D308 Announces High School Graduation Plans

Oswego East and Oswego High will hold graduation ceremonies on May 22 in DeKalb. Each student will receive four tickets.

OSWEGO, IL —Community Unit School District 308 announced on Thursday that Oswego East and Oswego High will hold graduation ceremonies on May 22 outdoors at Huskie Stadium on the campus of Northern Illinois University in DeKalb.

The Oswego East ceremony will take place at 10 a.m. and the Oswego High ceremony is set for 3:30 p.m. Each graduate will receive four guest tickets.

Last year, the coronavirus pandemic forced the high schools to hold individual graduation ceremonies, where each graduate was assigned a time to show up, walk on the stage and receive congratulations from the principal. Two guests were allowed.

According to a release, this year's ceremonies will take place rain or shine. Though if there is severe weather, a series of smaller, indoor ceremonies will be held on the same date at the high schools.

Meanwhile, eighth-grade promotion ceremonies also are expected to take place, though each junior high will plan its own activities.
