Dog Rescued, 1 Hurt In Oswego House Fire

Discarded smoking materials caused the blaze, officials said.

OSWEGO, IL —Oswego firefighters rescued a dog from the second floor of a house on fire Saturday morning in the Churchill Club. Officials said firefighters responded to the fire in the 400 block of Bluegrass Parkway to find fire in the basement extending into the attic.

An occupant of the home was injured trying to extinguish the fire before escaping the home.

Fire officials estimated the loss at around $450,000. The fire was caused by improperly discarded smoking materials, according to the Oswego Fire Protection District.
