Dog 'Terminated' After Biting Family Member: Cops

The family member was taken to the hospital for her injuries.

A family dog has been “terminated” after it reportedly bit a family member.

According to the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to the 0-100 block of S. Bereman Rd. in Oswego Township at around 6:12 p.m. May 14 for a report of a dog bite. Deputies found the family dog attacked the 47-year-old mother of the owner and caused injuries.

"A neighbor observed the dog attacking the female and struck the dog several times with a baseball bat to get the dog away from the female," Deputy Mike Mrozek said.

Police say they spoke with the caregiver and victim of the dog and both agreed the dog should be put down.

The K9 deputy then shot and killed the dog.

“The dog was terminated by deputies due to its aggressive behavior preventing it from being corralled,” police said.

There have been no previous reports made to the sheriff’s office regarding the dog, which was an American Bulldog mix. The owner was not present during the attack.

The mom was taken to Rush-Copley Medical Center for her injuries.

No charges are expected to be filed.
