Fundraiser for Family of Dad Killed in Drag Racing Crash

The campaign is hoping to raise $5,000.

A fundraiser has been set up for the family of Charles Siebel, the Aurora man who was killed in a drag racing crash.

The GoFundMe page is asking for $5,000 and has far surpassed that goal.

The money will go to supporting Charles’s wife, Julie, who is a teacher within Oswego School District 308, and her two children.

A fundraiser for the Siebel family will also be held from noon to 5 p.m. Dec. 19 at McBride’s North Pub and Grill located at 2340 S. Eola Rd. in Aurora. McBride’s will donate all sales between those hours.

Charges against the two men responsible for the drag racing incident are pending. The couple’s 15-year-old daughter Cassidy was also injured in the crash, but she is expected to pull through.

Aurora Police Department Media Relations Manager Dan Ferrelli said the horrific crash has forever affected an untold number of lives.

“Our thoughts are with everyone who has been impacted, especially the members of the Siebel family,” Ferrelli said in an email.

New Song Community Church Pastor Jason Dali told NBC Chicago that Siebel will be remembered as a generous man with a great sense of humor.

“He was a very loving husband, a very loving father,” Dali said.

Dali said the church is also working to raise money for the family, who worshiped at New Song. If you’d like to donate, contact the church at 630-499-0542.

Siebel spent his free time refereeing youth basketball games and worked in sales, according to NBC Chicago.
