Gas Price Update: Oswego Prices Plateau Slightly

OSWEGO, IL — Although the national average for a gallon of gas has dipped slightly, prices seem to have plateaued in Illinois.

As of Thursday, the average price for a gallon of gas in Illinois was $3.53 — that's down 4 cents from a week ago and 13 cents from a month ago, according to AAA.

At around $3.37 per gallon in Kendall County, gas prices were decently below the state average. Nationally, the price per gallon of gas is going for an average of $3.37 Thursday.

"The cost for oil accounts for 55% of what we pay at the pump," Andrew Gross, AAA spokesperson, said in a statement, "so higher or lower oil costs will play a major role in the price we pay when fuel-ing up."

According to GasBuddy, the cheapest gas in Oswego is selling for $3.23 per gallon at Murphy USA, 2350 Route 34. Here is what other stations around town are charging:
