Kendall County Coronavirus Update: 303 Cases, 160 In Recovery
The Kendall County Health Department reported 303 confirmed cases as of May 2.
KENDALL COUNTY, IL — The Kendall County Health Department reported a total of 303 cases of COVID-19 in the county with five more confirmed cases on Saturday, May 2.
According to county health officials, 160 cases are in recovery, which remains unchanged since Friday, May 1. As of now, there have been nine confirmed coronavirus-related deaths.
Health officials on Monday reported 2,341 new cases of the coronavirus in Illinois and 46 additional deaths, bringing the statewide total to 63,840 confirmed cases and 2,662 deaths. The U.S. now has nearly 1.2 million confirmed coronavirus infections, according to Johns Hopkins University, and more than 68,326 Americans have died from COVID-19, the respiratory illness caused by the virus.

About 70 percent of all reported COVID-19 cases within Kendall County are in recovery as of Thursday, according to county health data. About 20 percent are recovering at home and 6 percent are in the hospital.
While most people are staying home, those who are required to travel using public transportation should tread with caution. The Kendall County Health Department recommends drivers and passengers to consider the following precautions:

- Stay home if you are sick
- Wear a cloth face covering during transport
- Avoid pooled rides with multiple passengers
- Passengers should always sit in the back seat, rather than the front seat
- Whenever possible, passengers should handle their own personal belongings
- Avoid using the recirculated air option for the car’s ventilation
- Frequently touched surfaces should be disinfected after each transport
- Use proper cough and sneeze hygiene when in transport
- Wash or disinfect your hands with sanitizer before and after each transport
