Lacrosse Will Be Added To D308 Sports Offerings In 2024-25 School Year

The sport will be offered for both girls and boys as a co-op between the two District 308 high schools.

OSWEGO, IL — Joining a lacrosse team will soon be an option for students in Oswego Community Unit School District 308.

Lacrosse, a sport most popular in the United States and Canada, will be added to the district's athletic menu starting in the 2024-25 school year, officials announced the news in a post on Facebook Wednesday afternoon.

The sport will be offered for both boys and girls as a co-op between Oswego East High School and Oswego High School.

Ahead of the first season, District 308 will host two free clinics open to all students in grades 8 through 11 interested in lacrosse. They'll take place from 7-9 p.m. Oct. 17 and Dec. 14.

Coach Kylor Berkman, from True Lacrosse, will serve as the guest facilitator for the clinics.

Students attending should bring their own lacrosse sticks and basic equipment. Organizers encourage anyone with extra equipment to consider bringing them to share with others.
