Man, 18, Dies After Being Shot, Crashing Car In Boulder Hill: Sheriff

An Oswego man died Thursday evening after he was shot while driving in the 0-99 block of Circle Drive East.

BOULDER HILL, IL — A man driving in Boulder Hill was shot Thursday evening, forcing his car to crash, according to the Kendall County Sheriff's Office.

Officials identified the man as 18-year-old Ashton Laatz, of Oswego.

Deputies were called to the crash at about 5:21 p.m. in the 0-99 block of Circle Drive East after receiving reports of shots being fired. After Laatz was found inside the car, he was taken to a local hospital where he was later pronounced dead, officials said.

Officials said the shooting appears to be isolated based on the investigation so far. There is no known ongoing threat to the community. An investigation has been opened into the incident.
