Man Charged With DUI After Crash Killed Aurora Passenger: Sheriff
A car, driven by an Oswego man, lost control Monday and crashed into a utility pole, shearing off both front and rear doors, officials said.

OSWEGO, IL — A passenger was killed Monday afternoon in a car driven by a man driving under the influence of alcohol, according to the Kane County Sheriff's Office.
Around 3:50 p.m., a Hyundai Genesis was traveling north on Ashe Road in Sugar Grove when the driver lost control on the last curve before Jericho Road and hit a utility pole. The impact sheared off both the front and rear passenger doors, officials said.
Ma Cristina Cortes, a 58-year-old Aurora resident who was sitting in the rear seat, was killed in the crash. The front-seat passenger was severely injured, officials said.

The driver, Julio DeAnda-Vargas, was subsequently charged with driving under the influence of alcohol. The 39-year-old is being held at the Kane County jail awaiting bond call.
