Oswego Commemorates Memorial Day

American Legion Post 675 organized the annual parade, and held a moving ceremony at the Oswego Cemetery afterward.

As temperatures climbed up into the 80s on Monday morning, hundreds of people of all ages lined the streets of Oswego to catch the annual Memorial Day Parade.

Organized by the American Legion Post 675, the parade featured bands from both Oswego and Oswego East High School, walkers from Boy Scout, Girl Scout, Cub Scout and Brownie organizations, and local veterans, who received thunderous applause from onlookers.

After the parade, the American Legion held a Memorial Day ceremony at the Oswego Cemetery, complete with a rousing national anthem by the high school bands, a touching rendition of “Amazing Grace” by the Honor Guard, and a 21-gun salute.
