Oswego One of the Worst Cities to Own a Home: Report

OSWEGO, IL — Oswego might be a beautiful town, but according to a recent report from Value Penguin, it’s one of the worst places in Illinois to own a home.

Value Penguin looked at 15 data points from six sources, including the U.S. Census Bureau and the Illinois Department of Revenue.

“Everything was considered, from various kinds of taxes to home prices and values as well as the cost of homeowners insurance and neighborhood safety,” according to Value Penguin’s website.

Out of 259 cities ranked, Oswego came in at 248. Its ranking was determined by taxes and insurance, price and jobs/economy.

Beating out Oswego is Yorkville, which ranked at 234, but still pretty low on the list.
