Oswego Police 'Go Bald For A Cause' at St. Baldrick's Event

Oswego Police Department’s St. Baldrick’s event on Sunday, April 12, was a smashing success raising over $6,000 for pediatric cancer research.

The event consisted of teams and individuals having their heads shaved for this worthy cause. The many supporters and spectators, including Oswego Village President-Elect Gail Johnson, were on hand to cheer on the participants. Another newly elected official, Trustee Ryan Kaufman, decided to join in and had his head shaved as well.

Raffles and children’s games were also part of the fun. Shavees who participated in the event had cut their hair to all different lengths and consisted of both men and women.

Friends Trisha Murphy and Sarah Welch decided to shave all of their hair off. These two courageous friends alone raised over $3,300.

This year’s inaugural St. Baldrick’s event surpassed the police department’s fundraising goal of $5,000. The Oswego Police Department hopes to be even more successful next year in raising money and awareness in helping to put an end to childhood cancer.
