Oswego Sergeant Graduates Staff & Command School
Sgt. Brian Nehring graduated from the School of Police Staff and Command at Northwestern University.

OSWEGO, IL — The Oswego Police Department is pleased to announce the recent graduation of Sergeant Brian Nehring from the School of Police Staff and Command at Northwestern University. The School of Police Staff and Command (SPSC) is an intensive ten-week program designed to prepare today's progressive law enforcement supervisors for senior command positions by uniquely combining academic principles with practical applications. Since the program launched in 1983, the SPSC has graduated tens-of-thousands of students both nationally and internationally.
The program provides college-level instruction in a total of 27 core blocks of instruction during each session. Research is a key component of SPSC and students are academically challenged through written examinations, projects, presentations and quizzes in addition to a staff study addressing a problem or issue affecting the student’s organization.
The major study topics include leadership, organizational behavior, applied statistics, human resources, employee relations, planning and policy development, budgeting and resource allocation.
