Oswego Students Place in Essay Contest

First place winner Callista Morgan will advance to the district level competition where she'll compete for a $2,5000 scholarship.

OSWEGO, IL — Three Oswego students placed in the Oswegoland Optimist Club essay contest, according to a release from District 308.

Callista Morgan, Leah Theodor and Morgan Sumowski all placed in the contest, with Morgan taking home first place, Theodor second and Sumowski third. 68 students entered the contest.

The contest’s topic, “Lead by Example — Reality or Fiction,” produced essays that were “enlightening and thought provoking,” according to the release.

Morgan will now advance to the district level competition where she will compete to win a $2,500 scholarship.

The Oswegoland Optimist Club is also hosting an oratorical contest on Sunday, March 6 at the Wheatland Salem Church.
