Thompson Junior High School's inaugural Tiger Trot 5K and fun run raised $6,500 to renovate the school's fitness room.

On Saturday, April 27th, Thompson Junior High School in Oswego held their first annual Tiger Trot 5K and one mile fun run.

The Tiger Trot was organized by the Thompson Junior High School physical education and health departments. The goal of the event was to raise funds and awareness for healthy living.

The event raised about $6,500, all of which went towards Thompson’s “Life Long Fitness Fund.” These funds will be used to renovate the fitness room at the school and to buy fitness equipment that will better suit the needs of the students.

The Tiger Trot kicked off with a one mile fun run/walk, which about 210 people participated in. As the name suggests, the one mile run/walk was just for fun, and many families enjoyed the walk together.

The main event was the 5K run, which had about 215 participants. The race was professionally timed with bibs and chips.

The top overall male winner of the 5K race was Nicholas Dunn with a time of 18:02.5. The top overall female winner was Deborah Stevens with a time of 20:43.8. Both winners received a trophy, a $120 gift card to Road Runner Sports, and a gift basket from Herbalife.

Medals were also given to the top female and male winners from each age bracket. A complete list of 5K race results can be found here.
