Annual Bunny Hop Bounces Back Into Downtown Oswego This Weekend

The treat-collecting event starts at 10 a.m. Saturday.

Bunnies, candy and hunting for eggs are all time-honored Easter traditions.

Enter the Bunny Hop, made available to children of all ages by many of the local shops in downtown Oswego.

“The Bunny Hop has been going on for a while,” Oswego Community Relations Coordinator Michele Bergeron said. “I think about 13 years.”

This year, the event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, starting at , where the Easter Bunny will arrive at 10 a.m. via a fire truck.

“The kids will get a map of all the different shops that are participating,” said Bergeron. “Then they ‘hop’ all over town collecting treats.”

Children should bring their own basket to collect all of the various goodies.

 is one of the participants and shop employee Pat Esser said they will be well prepared.

“We had over 300 children come by last year,” she said. “It’s going to be a lot of fun.”

The Marmalade Tree will be handing out primarily fruit snacks and Esser said they have more than 500 pieces.

Esser said there are about 21 different stores participating. Bergeron said some of the stores will even have live bunnies for the children to pet.

“Once you’re done visiting all the stores, the children can turn their map in for a chance to win two giant filled Easter baskets,” said Bergeron.
