Toddler Saved From Traffic After Crawling Away From Oswego Daycare

The baby reportedly crawled through a hole in a fence.

OSWEGO, IL — Oswego police said an 18-month-old boy was saved by a a Good Samaritan after crawling through a hole in a fence at a Douglas Road daycare on Thursday. Police told CBS Chicago that the Good Samaritan grabbed the toddler before he reached traffic. The incident reportedly happened on Thursday morning at Kiddie Academy, 1580 Douglas Road.

The Oswego daycare opened in 2015.

A witness told WBBM that toddler, identified as 18-month-old Dash Anderson, was just 10 feet away from moving vehicles when he was scooped up by the unidentified rescuer. “How could something like this happen?” Dash's father, Devin Anderson, said.

The fence has reportedly been repaired, and a spokesperson for Kiddie Academy said the daycare's first priority is safety, and it is conducting an investigation into the incident.
