Wendt Named as Fayetteville Public Schools Superintendent

Wendt was appointed through a unanimous vote after an interview pool that included more than 30 candidates.

The Fayetteville Public Schools Board of Education has named Dr. Matthew Wendt as its new superintendent.

According to a release from the Fayetteville, Arkansas school district, Wendt was appointed through a unanimous vote after an interview process that included just a handful of other candidates who were selected from a pool of more than 30 school administrators.

Wendt currently serves as the superintendent for Oswego School District 308

Fayetteville Board President Tim Hudson said the board was fortunate to have had several strong applicants.

“The board is confident that in Dr. Wendt we have found a leader who will embrace the district’s strategic plan that is being developed and build on our strengths to take Fayetteville Public Schools to national prominence,” Hudson said in a press release.

Messages left with Oswego School District 308 were not immediately returned Tuesday night.

Wendt is expected to visit Fayetteville next week, according to the release.
