Montgomery Couple Open New Breakfast Restaurant in Oswego
The Calla Lily Cafe off Orchard Road opened in December.
During these winter months thereβs nothing like a steaming hot breakfast to start the day off right.
And with the opening of Calla Lily Cafe, 1055 Station Drive, a breakfast like that is on the horizon.
The breakfast and lunch cafΓ© opened in mid-December 2012, replacing the previous Flappyβs restaurant, which closed right before Thanksgiving.

βIt was always our dream to own a restaurant,β said Montgomery residentΒ Dee Lopez, who owns the Calla Lily with her husband, Pedro.
Lopez said her family owns many restaurants and bars in California and she had always wanted to try something similar. She previously owned and managed Precious Moments Daycare in Montgomery for 10 years, giving her the business know-how on how to run a restaurant.

Calla Lilly was named for Lopez's favorite flower, and they are featured throughout the cafΓ© on the menus and table centerpieces.
The menu features a wide variety of omelettes and eggs, pancakes, French toast plus a hearty amount of sandwiches, wraps and soups for the lunch crowd.
βEveryone really likes the biscuits and gravy,β said Lopez. βAnd anything that has steak in it. We marinate it really well.β
Currently the restaurant is open 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily, but Lopez said sheβs been considering opening for possible dinner hours on Friday and expanding.
βItβs just been a roller coaster. A really crazy, fun ride,β she said of the experience of opening the cafΓ©. βItβs a dream come true for us. We never thought weβd be able to [open a restaurant] this fast.β
The Oswego Chamber of Commerce announced via their Twitter that there will be a ribbon cutting for Calla Lily Cafe at noon Thursday, Feb. 21.
