Woman Filed False Report About Sexual Assault: Oswego Police
Police say a woman who claimed she was assaulted on Jackson Street last month made the story up.

OSWEGO, IL — An Oswego woman who claimed she was sexually assaulted in Oswego last month made the story up, according to police. On Thursday, police said an investigation into claims made by the 20-year-old woman revealed the story was false. On the afternoon of April 5, Oswego police responded to a woman's report that she had been assaulted while walking in the 0-100 block of West Jackson Street.
Police secured the scene and canvassed that area before issuing a press release stating that the incident was under investigation and that authorities did not believe the public was in danger. The woman was also taken to an area hospital for examination.
"During the subsequent investigation, police determined through statements obtained and evidenced collected that the incident did not occur," Oswego police said Thursday, adding that "after a comprehensive and thorough investigation," investigators concluded that the woman filed a false police report.
