Woman Leaves 3 Kids Ages 5 And Under Home Alone: Oswego PD

The 30-year-old mother was arrested late Sunday night and charged with three counts of endangering the life or health of a child.

OSWEGO, IL — An Oswego mother is accused of endangering the life or health of her children after leaving them home alone Sunday night, according to police.

Stephanie Estrada Gomez is facing three counts of the misdemeanor after her arrest at about 11:57 p.m. Sunday.

Oswego officers responded at 6:52 p.m. to a residence in the 200 block of Springbrook Trail South after receiving a report that the 30-year-old woman left her three children — ages 5, 4 and 1 — home alone, according to a news release. Police spokesperson Cathy Nevara told Patch the kids were unattended for about 2 hours.

No injuries were reported. The kids were released to a family member's care after the Department of Children and Family Services was notified, police said.

Estrada Gomez was transported to the Oswego Police Department, where she was booked and processed. She was released at 3:26 a.m. Monday, and issued a notice to appear in court on Dec. 5.
