• State Rep accused of sexual harassment, office drug use by former staffer (vandaliaradio.com) — Ottawa-based state Rep. Amy Murri Briel faces public allegations from a former chief of staff, who accuses her of inappropriate comments and drug use in a taxpayer-funded office. Briel has said other outlets were told an ethics review dismissed the complaint and has urged release of that report, leaving Ottawa-area residents watching closely for official clarification.
   

• Ottawa girls tennis, Marquette and Seneca volleyball score convincing triumphs: The Times Thursday roundup (shawlocal.com) — Ottawa High School athletes had a big day, with girls tennis beating Princeton 4-1 and boys golf topping La Salle-Peru, while Ottawa’s girls golfers fell to Minooka. Nearby Marquette and Seneca volleyball teams also notched straight-set conference wins, and several other area schools posted strong results across golf, soccer, and cross country.
