14 Palatine Businesses Offering Alcohol With Pickup

Some local businesses are getting creative in what they are offering amid a government-mandated shutdown.

PALATINE, IL — Fourteen Palatine businesses have received village approval to sell pre-packaged beer or wine and/or alcohol or beer in growlers with their take-out food orders, village officials told Patch. The state has shutdown restaurants and bars for on-site consumption but local businesses have gotten creative in their offerings as many deal with declining sales.

Starting late last month, businesses with a class A (tavern), D (restaurant), D-1 (restaurants with extended hours) or G (businesses selling beer and wine) liquor licenses were allowed to offer the new off-site consumption service, Michael W. Jacobs, deputy village manager for the village of Palatine told Patch in an e-mail response. Businesses interested were required to fill out a form and submit it to the village.

Here is a look at some of the creative offerings Palatine businesses have come up with to continue bringing in sales:

Durty Nellie's

Kids eat free on Tuesday. Need we say more, parents? After Gov. J.B. Pritzker announced on Thursday that the state's stay-at-home order would be extended through May 30, Dury Nellie's announced it would try and do its part to help those who are "wondering how they are going to pay their rent, mortgage, insurance, utilities, car payments." The restaurant will offer two free kids meals with each adult purchase every Tuesday, according to the restaurant's website.

"We realize it’s but a small gesture but we would like to think every little bit helps," according to information posted on Durty Nellie's website.

The restaurant is also offering buy one entree, get one half-off on Wednesdays; Mother's Day brunch to-go, which is available for pick-up; Nellie's grocery, where residents can order basic food items for pick up; and has moved its Acoustic Fridays, which was slated to start this past month at the restaurant/bar, online.

Chicago Culinary Kitchen

Since residents can no longer get together for classes at Chicago Culinary Kitchen, the business is "offering the next best thing" with a "take-home BBQ and Craft Beer experience." More information and tickets are available online and the "experience" can be picked up between 5 to 6 p.m. every Wednesday.

In addition, the Chicago Culinary Kitchen is bringing its food truck to Lake Cook Commons, 2391 N. Hicks Road, between 4 and 6:30 p.m. every Thursday.

Tap House Grill

Tap House Grill is offering delivery, pickup and parking lot pickup as well as daily specials and $50 family meals. Growlers are also available and can be added on to orders.
