• S&C Electric to Build Glenview, IL Facility for Grid Resilience (indexbox.io) — S&C Electric has recently expanded its manufacturing capacity in Palatine freeing up space to grow its product lines and support a stronger electric grid. The company is also building a major new facility in nearby Glenview and enlarging its Chicago headquarters, moves expected to create regional jobs and improve reliability for utilities facing rising power demand and harsher weather.
• Girls volleyball notes: Fremd leaning on Drenth's leadership (dailyherald.com) — Palatine sports fans will appreciate senior setter Alaina Ratay becoming the program's first player to reach 2,000 assists during her recent Senior Night match. The roundup also highlights how Fremd, Hersey, Rolling Meadows, Barrington and other Mid-Suburban League teams are leaning on key setters and hitters as they chase conference titles and postseason momentum.
• Illinois' 8th District: Melissa Bean seeks comeback vs. newcomer Republican Jennifer Davis (dailyherald.com) — Residents near Palatine may see a familiar name on the ballot as former congresswoman Melissa Bean, who still lives in unincorporated Palatine, seeks a return to Washington in the 8th District. She faces Republican tech entrepreneur Jennifer Davis in a race centered on democracy, federal spending, immigration, abortion rights, and how to regulate fast-growing technologies like artificial intelligence and data centers.
