Questions Remain in Hit-and-Run That Seriously Injured Boy, 13
The boy was struck by the vehicle while biking early Saturday and an unknown person drove him home.
LAKE COUNTY, IL — Authorities are searching for the driver in a hit and run that left a 13-year-old boy with serious injuries, and also trying to determine who dropped the injured boy off at his Inverness home following the incident early Saturday. Lake County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Christopher Covelli said authorities believe the boy sneaked out of his home and was hit by a vehicle while riding his bike home from a friend’s house between 3 a.m. and 5 a.m. Saturday, according to the Daily Herald. The hit and run occurred on Route 59 south of Route 22 in Cuba Township.
An unknown person drove the injured boy back to his home in the 1100 block of Glencrest Drive in Inverness, which was about five miles from the crash scene, and drove off before making contact with the boy’s parents, Covelli told the Daily Herald. The boy was able to get into his home on his own and his parents then called 911.
The boy was first taken to St. Alexius Hospital in Hoffman Estates and then to Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago due to the extent of his injuries.

Brian Quartuccio, 42, has been charged in connection with that incident and remains jailed on a $500,000 bond. Meanwhile, Hanson has been released from the hospital and will continue to recover from injuries sustained in the crash at home.
