Brush Fire Along Jane Addams Causes $50,000 in Damage to Tollway Cables
The blaze was reported late Monday morning in Schaumburg.

Careless disposal of smoking materials likely caused a brush fire along a 400-foot-section of the Jane Addams Memorial Tollway east of Meacham Road in Schaumburg late Monday morning, the Daily Herald reports. The blaze caused an estimated $50,000 in damage to fiber optic cables that are owned by the Illinois Tollway.
The blaze occurred during a Red Flag Warning issued by the National Weather Service for towns throughout northern Illinois Monday. The warning meant that high winds and temperatures along with low relative humidity made conditions prime for fires.
