Chicago’s “Neighborhood Heroes” Take A Bow During Black History Month

To commemorate Black History Month, ComEd launched its “Power of One” advertising campaign recognizing 28 African American “Neighborhood Heroes” who are powering lives in Chicagoland communities.

The heroes are featured via multiple media, including one-minute videos on ComEd.com/PowerOfOne; ComEd’s social media sites – Facebook and Twitter; a series of radio, outdoor, print, and digital advertisements and news media interviews.

Heroes like Elizabeth Gardner are making a difference in her community every day. Elizabeth made a personal decision to do something to create positive change in her neighborhood and created the Woodlawn Community Summit. This Summit brings together residents from across Chicago’s Woodlawn and surrounding communities with area leaders and civic officials to advocate for violence prevention, education reform and economic development. Its mission is to empower residents as leaders and organizers – and to generate creative solutions to community issues through a network of resources and support.
