PALATINE, IL — A woman was charged with three felony counts of aggravated battery to a peace officer, among other offenses, after reportedly striking and kicking police during a physical struggle following a traffic stop. Star D. Hampton, 33, of the 400 block of W. Palatine Road, Palatine, has remained in jail since her arrest earlier this week due to several warrants.

According to Palatine police, Hampton was pulled over at around 11:15 a.m. Tuesday, after she was seen committing multiple traffic violations in the area of Dundee and Rand roads. During the subsequent stop, police learned she had two active failure to appear warrants out of Champaign County, both stemming from prior arrests for aggravated battery to a peace officer.

Following a Wednesday detention hearing, Hampton was released on the new charges in Palatine pending extradition to Champaign County for the warrants.
