On Sunday, August 2, young pianist, Daniel Souvigny shares his ragtime passion, by bringing plenty of energy and pizzazz with familiar songs of Scott Joplin, Jelly Roll Morton, and Fats Waller, in Ragtime: American Music, from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m.
Ted Wachholz, from the Eastland Historical Society, delivers a special remembrance presentation called The Eastland Disaster: 100th Anniversary, on Tuesday, August 4, from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. In 1915, over 800 Western Electric factory workers were killed as they embarked on the SS Eastland down the Chicago River for their annual company outing to Michigan City, Indiana. The majority of these victims are buried in the Bohemian National Cemetery in Chicago. Historic photographs, a first-hand narrative by the descendants of a survivor, and a brief video with ABC’s Ron Magers interviewing will be shown.

Storyteller Lynn Rymarz portrays Zelda Fitzgerald on Monday, August 10, 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. in the program Zelda Fitzgerald: This Side of Paradise. Learn how the wife of author F. Scott Fitzgerald lost herself and her sanity while her husband gained fame and notoriety through his famous novels.
On Wednesday, August 19, Historian Jim Gibbons presents the life, death, facts, and theories of the great American aviation legend, Amelia Earhart. Earhart disappeared while flying around the Equator in 1937, come learn more from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. in the program Amelia Earhart: Soaring High on Wings of Success.
