Fremd Grads Get Nod From Presidential Scholars Program
Congrats to Maegan Jong and Kristina Chen.

PALATINE, IL -- Two former Fremd High School students have received recognition through the 2019 United States Presidential Scholars Program. Maegan Jong was selected as a 2019 Presidential Scholar and Kristina Chen was selected as a 2019 Presidential Scholar semifinalist, according to a District 211 news release. Both Jong and Chen were recognized for their achievements at a District 211 Board of Education meeting on May 23.
The Presidential Scholar Program was established in 1964 in order to recognize some of the nation’s most distinguished graduating high school seniors. Each year, up to 161 students are named as Presidential Scholars, one of the country’s highest honors for high school students.
Each scholar chosen has demonstrated leadership, scholarship, contribution to school and community; exceptional talent in the visual, creative, and performing arts; or ability and accomplishment in career and technical education fields, according to District 211.
