Fremd High School music students selected for ILMEA District 7 Festival

Palatine, IL: The Illinois Music Educators Association (ILMEA) annually selects the most talented musicians in each of the nine Illinois districts to perform at a one-day concert at a local high school. More than 50 area high schools participated this year in the District seven auditions including all District 211 high schools. The auditions consisted of students performing prepared etudes, sight-reading, and the ILMEA scale page.

This year 36 music students from Fremd High School were selected to perform in the Honors Band, Honors Choir, Honors Orchestra, and Honors Jazz Bands. “We are very proud of all of our students that have been selected for ILMEA District 7 Honors ensembles. The students are exceptional high school musicians and worked very hard to achieve this honor” said Matthew Moore, Fremd High School Music Department Chair. Moore added, “The students will have the opportunity to perform with outstanding high school musicians from surrounding area schools, as well as working with renowned collegiate/professional guest conductors at the ILMEA Festivals”.
