Holiday Garbage Pickup: When Can Christmas Trees Hit the Curb in Palatine?

Find out how the Christmas and New Year's Day holidays affect trash pickup this year.

PALATINE, IL — The Christmas and New Year's Day holidays mean the schedule for trash collection will change for village residents.

During the weeks of Dec. 26 and Jan. 2, trash pickup by Groot, which provides service to Palatine, will be one day later than the regularly scheduled day, according to the village's website. That means if your garbage is normally collected on Monday, then it will be picked up on Tuesday for those two holiday weeks.

Trash pickup for Christmas trees will begin on scheduled collection days from Jan. 3-14. Landscape waste stickers aren't required for Christmas tree collection.
