Learn about a career in manufacturing

Less than two weeks after Harper College President Dr. Ken Ender met in a closed-door meeting with President Barack Obama to discuss new initiatives aimed at boosting U.S. manufacturing, the College will hold a manufacturing careers information session to help usher in the next generation of skilled workers.

The session will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 6, at Building D, Room D195, on Harper’s main campus, 1200 W. Algonquin Road in Palatine.

Prospective students will learn how to prepare for a career as an advanced manufacturing professional through an overview of the industry, demonstrations and tours.

Program benefits include advanced training, degree and certification opportunities; potential for paid internships; job placement assistance; in-district tuition regardless of residence; and transferable college credits toward an associate or bachelor’s degree. Attendees who complete Harper’s application on-site will have the $25 fee waived.

Harper’s manufacturing programs provide specialized skills in CNC (computer numerical control), welding, mechatronics and maintenance. After completion of the 12-month program, graduating students will be well-positioned for entry into a career in advanced manufacturing.
