Sex Offender Threatened To Shoot Cop At Street Fest: Police

The convicted sex offender allegedly told two strangers he was going to get on a roof and use a sniper rifle to shoot the officer.

COOK COUNTY, IL — A convicted sex offender who was recently charged with criminal trespassing is back in custody for threatening to use a sniper rifle to shoot a police officer from the roof of a Palatine building during the upcoming Palatine Street Fest, according to the Daily Herald.

William Y. La Veau, 55, of Kildeer, allegedly told a couple, two strangers he met outside a Palatine bar early Saturday, of his plans to shoot the officer because he'd arrested him on the criminal trespassing charges in recent months.

The couple called police to report the incident and the police officer who arrested La Veau in February allegedly identified him at a different bar. He was arrested, charged with threatening a public official, and is being held on a $100,000 bail, according to the Daily Herald.
