Man Who Died After Entering Water In Palatine Identified

Police released new details days after emergency crews pulled the 34-year-old from the water.

PALATINE, IL — Authorities have identified the man who died after entering a body of water during a suspicious person call in Palatine.

The person involved in the June 8 incident in the 1200 block of East Twin Lakes Drive has been identified as Marcale D. Cole, 34, police said.

Palatine police and Illinois State Police responded at around 6:11 p.m. June 8 to the 1200 block of East Twin Lakes Drive for a report of a suspicious person, according to police.

Officers and state troopers found someone matching the description of the suspicious person and tried to contact them, police said.

During the incident, the person entered a nearby body of water and did not resurface.

The Palatine Fire Department responded and began rescue efforts. Cole was later found in the water and taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The incident remains under investigation.
