Martin Luther King Jr. Day 2017: What's Open and Closed in Palatine

PALATINE, IL — The country honors the life and achievements of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. with a national holiday in his name Monday, Jan. 16.
Although it's a federal holiday, most retail businesses around the village will be open. But it's always idea to call ahead and check.

Schools: No classes for District 15 and District 211 schools.
Palatine Village Government: The Village Hall will be closed, but the Village Council meeting will be at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 16, in the hall's Council Chamabers. State and federal government offices will be closed, too.

Palatine Public Library: All library branches will be open.
Postal Service: No mail delivery, and all post offices will be closed.
Banks: Most financial institutions will be closed. Call ahead to be sure.
Trash Pickup: Garbage collection service will not be affected by the holiday.
