Woman Killed After Stepping in Front of Metra Train: Authorities
The incident delayed Union Pacific Northwest line Metra trains for hours on Tuesday.

A 52-year-old woman was killed after she stepped in front of a train near the downtown Barrington Metra station Tuesday morning, the Daily Herald reports.
The apparent suicide occurred at 7:17 a.m on the tracks at Route 59 north of Lake Cook Road when the woman was struck by an eastbound Metra train -- inbound train No. 624, according to the Chicago Tribune. The woman left a note behind, which was turned over to the Lake County Coroner’s Office.
The woman’s identity is not being released at this time.
