Norton's U.S.A. Partners With Barrington's White House to Stock the Kitchen
Barrington's White House will be open Sept. 26 & 27 to tour. Norton's U.S.A. will be there to help the community stock the kitchen.
“I was thrilled when Beth Raseman, project coordinator for Barrington’s White House, asked me to be a part of Barrington’s White House renovation by helping stock the kitchen.” says Deborah Leydig, owner of Norton’s U.S.A. in Barrington, IL. “We have so many great housewares and they are all made in the United States. I knew our products would be a perfect fit for the 117-year-old house because when the house was originally built, everything was made in America.” The beautifully designed kitchen will host guest chefs and cooking classes as well as provide a location for food preparation for events.
Local residents have been able to buy items to donate to the kitchen from the Barrington’s White House registry at Norton’s U.S.A. brick and mortar store in Barrington or at www.MyRegistry.com. Stainless steel cookware, glassware, china place settings, kitchen gadgets and many other items have already been purchased fulfilling about 75% of the registry. Ms. Leydig explains, “It’s a great way to feel a part of the project. You might not be able to donate $1000, but you can donate a can opener or a place setting of china.” Norton’s U.S.A. gives purchasers a 15% discount to help stock the kitchen even faster.
Barrington’s White House renovation is nearly complete. All are invited to a two day Open House scheduled for September 26 and 27 from 12 – 4pm. Remaining items needed to complete the kitchen will be available for purchase, so residents and friends of the community may purchase donations on the spot. Mary Smith and Beth Raseman have been the driving force in the renovation and guiding it to fruition. Mary Smith’s daughters Gillian Stoettner and Molly Hamman have been instrumental alongside Deborah Leydig in “Stocking the Kitchen.” The overall vision of the Village and Barrington’s White House volunteer committee was to renovate the property into an elegant and highly functional cultural and community center on the first floor and a large ballroom on the third floor. The structure’s second floor primarily houses professional office spaces available for rental by non-profit organizations as well as a bride’s room and coat check. The finished home will be Barrington’s community house for all to enjoy.
