Palatine Convenience Store Closed Five Days for Selling Drug Paraphernalia

PALATINE, IL — A Palatine convenience store will be forced to shut down for five consecutive days this month and pay a fine after a village representative saw drug paraphernalia being sold at the store on two different occasions this July.
The Quick Stop Convenience Store, on Palatine Road and Linden Avenue, sold bongs, glass pipes and other drug paraphernalia, according to The Daily Herald.
According to village code, stores that sells drug paraphernalia are considered a public nuisance.

Quick Stop must shut down for five consecutive days before Sept. 30, pay a $500 fine, and court fees.
Village Manager Reid Ottesen said the store stopped selling the drug paraphernalia soon after the village ordered the owner to attend the disciplinary hearing, The Daily Herald reports.
