Palatine First Responders Family Fest this Saturday at Deer Grove East
Area families and first responders are invited to participate in a wide array of exciting events. Come on out and cheer the competitors on!
If you have what it takes, it’s not too late to register for one of the many exciting events featured this weekend at the 2nd annual First Responders Family Fest. This family-friendly event will be held at Deer Grove East Forest Preserve on Saturday, August 22nd. Thanks to our presenting sponsors, Northwest Community Healthcare, Country Financial and Chicago Casino Rentals and media sponsors Daily Herald Media Group and Patch.com.
Join in the fun at a Youth 1-Mile Run or a 5K Run/Walk. Race check-in begins at 8 a.m. The official race charity is the Palatine Police and Fire Benevolent Association, which raises funds for community members in times of need.
- Youth 1-Mile Run starting at 830 a.m.
- 5K Run/Walk starting at 9 .m. - all 5K Runners get a choice of a red firefighter or blue police offer dri-fit shirt.
The 2nd annual First Responders Obstacle Course Challenge is sure to be an exciting event to cheer on your favorite team! Teams of three, made up of any first responder, in addition to members of the general public, will compete through an obstacle course challenge, including a team relay, hose run, tire flip, potato sack race and more. Do you have what it takes?? If so, register to compete and bring home the winning trophy and 50% of the event proceeds for the charity of your choice. Palatine Mayor Jim Schwantz will be speaking before the competition begins.

The Tug-Of-War Challenge proceeds also raise funds for the Palatine Police and Fire Benevolent Association. Grab and friend and tug for a great cause!
The FREE Water Balloon Toss/Fight will be an opportunity to cool and off and enjoy some fun as the event closer.
