Palatine High School Evacuated Tuesday Due to Power Outage

Students were brought into the football stadium on Tuesday afternoon after a partial power outage was reported at the high school, according to the Palatine High School website.

According to a student at PHS, at 12:30 p.m. a member of the administration entered the lunchroom and announced that all students had to evacuate the school and go to the football stadium.

While there, students were kept busy with human bowling games and races, the student said.

Before 1:30 p.m. the student said Principal Gary Steiger got on a microphone and explained there had been a small fire in the school, and that none of the smoke alarms or sprinklers were activated.

The Palatine Fire Department was on the scene, according to the student, when they were allowed back into the building around 1:30 p.m.
