Palatine Library Celebrates 100 Years

Palatine Library is hosting the Northern Illinois LEGO® Train Club (NILTC) on Saturday, May 4 from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sunday, May 5 from 12:00 to 4:30 p.m., with a sensory hour on Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The NILTC uses over a million LEGO® bricks to build nearly 200 feet of tracks and cityscapes. Timeslot tickets will be given to attendees on the day of the event for a spot in line to view the LEGO® exhibit.

While you wait to see the LEGO® exhibit, buy delicious food from Palatine favorite food trucks, Chicago Culinary Kitchen, Pierogi Girls, and My FlavorIt! Place from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Also, stop by the Youth and Teen Area and The Workshop for fun activities and to sign our birthday card.

Get early access to our exhibit that displays pivotal moments in our history. From seldom-seen photographs to our famous summer reading t-shirts, each panel narrates a chapter of our illustrious history. The exhibit officially opens Wednesday, May 15 at 7:00 p.m. with a presentation of the History of Palatine Library presented by the Palatine Historical Society.

In addition to this celebration, we’re raising $10,000 to purchase a giant LiteZilla Lite Brite, an interactive display in the Early Literacy Area. A LiteZilla provides a fun way for kids to develop vital skills like critical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity.
