Palatine Man Sentenced to 25 Years for Stealing Barrington Man's BMW

Found guilty Thursday, Brontay Matlock was on parole for a previous conviction when he was arrested in the 2015 auto theft.

A Palatine man with rap sheet that includes burglary and retail theft was sentenced Friday 25 years in jail after being convicted in connection with stealing a Barrington business owner's BMW last year, the Daily Herald reports.

Brontay Matlock, 24, was found guilty by a jury Thursday, June 9, of burglary and possession of a stolen car and was given the lengthy sentence because of his past criminal record and the fact that he was on parole for a 2014 conviction when he was arrested, the report stated.

After expressing interest in buying the Barrington man's BMW in August of 2015, Matlock swapped out the keys and drove off with the car without the owner knowing, the Herald reports.
