Palatine Pediatrician Arrested at Protest During Rep. Peter Roskam's Meeting With GOP Group

The doctor was the only arrest Saturday at a demonstration outside the office of the Palatine Township Republican Organization.

PALATINE, IL — A pediatrician was the only demonstrator from a group of about 400 who protested U.S. Rep. Peter Roskam (R-6th District) as he held a closed-door meeting over the weekend with a Republican group in Palatine, the Daily Herald reports.

Dr. Wynn Sheade was arrested and charged with trespassing during Saturday's demonstration at the office of the Palatine Township Republican Organization, the report stated. He was released on his own recognizance, and his next court date is later this month, the report added.

Sheade told the Herald he was stopped by Palatine police when he tried to attend the closed-door meeting to talk to Roskam about President Donald Trump's promise to repeal the Affordable Care Act. It's an issue that affects Sheade not only professionally, but also personally because his wife suffers from cancer, according to the Herald.

Sheade was disappointed that Roskam limited his interaction Saturday to only Republican residents and not addressing any of the demonstrators on hand.

"I think that a congressman is a congressman to all of the constituents, not just to one party," he told the Herald.
