"We believe our enforcement efforts saves lives and raises awareness in our community,"

PALATINE, IL — The Palatine Police Department upped its enforcement efforts in May, handing out 177 citations for those who failed to use their seat belts properly during its annual Click It or Ticket initiative, according to a news release from the police department. Police also handed out the following tickets or made the following arrests during the campaign, which ran from May 8 to 26:

  • 3 uninsured motorists citations
  • 23 speeding citations
  • 1 warrant
  • 4 misdemeanor arrests
  • 22 use of a cell phone citations
  • 20 other citations

“We believe our enforcement efforts saves lives and raises awareness in our community,” according to a news release from the Palatine Police Department. “Seat belts save lives. Issuing citations is not our goal, but if that’s what it takes to remind people of the importance of such a simple action, so be it.”
