Palatine Police Release Results From Holiday Campaign

Police officers from across the state were out in full force in recent weeks.

From Palatine PD: The Palatine Police Department conducted additional traffic enforcement from November 22- December 2, reminding motorists to buckle up and not drive impaired, day or night, as part of the nationwide Click It or Ticket/Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over enforcement effort. Palatine Police joined other state and local law enforcement agencies across Illinois to reduce highway fatalities by issuing citations to unbuckled motorists and arresting impaired drivers.

During the mobilization, Palatine Police issued:
• 168 seat belt citations
• 1 DUI arrest
• 29 speeding citations
• 5 uninsured motorists’ citations
• 28 illegal use of cell phone while driving citations
• 59 other traffic related citations
• 2 suspended/revoked driver’s license arrests
• 1 fugitive apprehended
• 2 drug arrests
• 7 Felony/Misdemeanor Arrests

During the mobilization, extra emphasis was placed on enforcement during late- night hours, when statistics show the most unbuckled and impaired driving fatalities
occur.

This law enforcement effort was made possible by federal highway safety funds administered through the Illinois Department of Transportation and is part of the nationwide “Click It or Ticket” and “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaigns.
