Palatine Police Release Results From Traffic Detail

The local police department increased enforcement efforts over the Fourth of July holiday.

From the Palatine Police Department: Palatine Police made one drunk-driving arrest and issued 51 seat belt citations during the recent July Fourth Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket crackdown. Law enforcement agencies throughout Illinois participated in this statewide effort to get drunk and drugged drivers off our roadways and encourage seat belt use.

The Palatine Police Department joined forces with more than 150 other state and local law enforcement agencies conducting the crackdown campaign, which featured high-visibility enforcement combined with a variety of outreach activities including a media campaign.

The following is a summary of the Independence Day campaign in the Village of Palatine:

  • 51 seat belt citations
  • 1 DUI arrest
  • 3 speeding citations
  • 1 uninsured motorist
  • 21 other traffic citations
  • 40 illegal use of cell phone while driving citations
  • 2 suspended/revoked/no valid driver’s license arrests
  • 3 drug arrests
  • 1 warrant arrest
  • 3 Felony/Misdemeanor arrests

This law enforcement effort was funded by federal traffic safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation as part of the statewide Click it or Ticket and Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over campaigns.
