Palatine Presents Arbor Day Celebration

Palatine Park District, Village of Palatine, and students from local schools to celebrate Arbor Day on Friday, April 24.

The Palatine Park District and the Village of Palatine will be conducting their annual joint Arbor Day celebration on Friday, April 24 at 10:00am at Oak Park, 455 N. Clark Drive, Palatine. Palatine Park District and the Village of Palatine take turns hosting this event each year; the 2015 event is being hosted by Palatine Park District.

The event will begin with opening remarks and introductions by Jim Holder, Assistant Superintendent of Parks at Palatine Park District, followed by remarks from Jim Schwantz, Mayor of the Village of Palatine and Mike Clark, Executive Director of Palatine Park District. Presentations will be given by students from Jane Addams Elementary School and St. Thomas of Villanova School, both located in Palatine. The highlight of the event, and the reason for this Arbor Day Celebration, will be the ceremonial planting of a Kentucky Coffee Tree at Oak Park. The event will conclude with light refreshments for those in attendance.

The mission of Palatine Park District is to provide a variety of safe, enjoyable and affordable parks and recreation facilities and activities that will enhance the quality of life by promoting good health and well-being for all residents and visitors of the Palatine Park District.
