Palatine School Closes Thursday Over Virus Fears

A family member of an employee at Kirk School has contracted coronavirus.

PALATINE, IL — Kirk School in Palatine will be closed Thursday after an employee’s family member tested positive for COVID-19, according to the Daily Herald. The school, which is run by the Northwest Suburban Special Education Organization, will be closed Thursday for cleaning and should reopen on Friday.

The staff member has not been at school since March 4 and has been caring for family. The employee has remained symptom-free and has been self-quarantining, according to the article.

Also on Wednesday, District 300 announced it would close two schools, Dundee-Crown High and Perry Elementary schools, amid fears over possible exposure of students to the coronavirus. A high school student and the student’s immediate family were told to self-quarantine as health officials await test results for a family member who may have contracted the new coronavirus, school officials said.
