Palatine Son Who Cut Off Mom's Head Could be Released Next Month

A Palatine man who decapitated his mother and left her head on the porch of her Palatine home could be released from a mental health center where he has been in custody since he was found not guilty by reason of insanity for the 2003 killing, the Daily Herald reports. A hearing is scheduled for January for Karl Sneider. He could be released from the Elgin Mental Health Center and moved to a halfway house, according to the article. During his court proceedings, Sneider testified that God told him he was Jesus Christ and that he needed to kill his mother who was Satan. The woman who was 49 years old at the time she was beaten, stabbed and decapitated in her Palatine home.
